Jewelry brand USNEA presents the most stunning experimental silver jewelry. Usnea’s jewelry is inspired by nature's most intricate small life forms, lichens, which are commonly found in Patagonia. Born from the creative vision of Montserrat Fonseca Llach, an architect and scenographer based between Santiago de Chile and Amsterdam, Unsea transforms organic matter into wearable art. Her designs effortlessly combine simplicity with striking beauty, making each piece a unique statement.

 

USNEA has already graced The Creative Lab twice, each time showcasing her exceptional craftsmanship. Now we’re thrilled to feature some of the highlights from her collection in our webshop.

 

Montserrat: "In my practice “collecting” plays a crucial role, beyond observation and selection, it allows experimentation with the material outside its natural context. From this emerges Usnea, an experimental silver jewelry project, in which I work mainly with lichens (s.n Usnea barbata). An organism that arises from the symbiosis between an algae and a fungus, which only grows in places with considerably pure air, as in Patagonia, my hometown. In their creative process, they become the matrix of wearable pieces or jewelry, revealing an unprecedented relationship between matter and form."
