Mimi Alferink

FOUNDER OF OLU OLU.

OLU OLU, an art project by the wonderful Mimi, showcases the most eye-catching artworks featuring soft shapes and bold colours. We are proud to present a few of her beautiful prints in our webshop.

Mimi: "OLU OLU means many things, one of them is: 'calm by doing'. This is exactly what I experienced when I used painting as a tool to heal from my feelings/emotions. I was burned out by overthinking my art style, once I let go of the outcome and what others opinion might be, my current art style came out.

I love to transfer my feelings through my art, because these feelings are often common and recognizable for others. Big topics are self love, solitude and acceptance. I like to positively inspire others to embrace every part of themselves. There is beauty in loneliness or sadness just as in happiness and vibrance. Life is beautiful because of the mix of our emotions and feelings, that's what I try to show in my work as well.

Currently I live between Morocco and Amsterdam. I create my art in Morocco and exhibit my work in different places all over the world. I love to work freehand and let myself be surprised by the outcome as well.

I often paint on a big scale like murals or large paintings, however I like to share my work with a bigger audience through prints. I work mainly with print on demand, to avoid waste. The material I use is recycled paper with eco ink.

Apart from my artworks, I host creative workshops to inspire others to make the step to creativity and reinvent their style again or gain more confidence and joy in creating. In the future I want to create OLU OLU as a lifestyle brand, including fashion, interior and many more aspects. My dream is to eventually build art schools in different countries to educate kids, recognize their talent and give them an artistic future."
